Those "new" intel mac's
there might be already topic from this subject in the french area.... but:
does anyone here know how does the "new" intel based mac's (macbook's) work with music softs.? apple.com just hypes them up (marketing of course); but seems like most softwares need to be updated, for intel support... do they still work ok? or is it more like using pc?

It's not that simple yet garga
What's true is that the new Intel Macs are the bomb when it comes to processing horsepower for music, really!
In Logic, the Core Duo processor in a €1000 Macbook almost gives you the power you could get from a dual G5 previously !
However, the trouble is that the Mac Intel version of Logic won't work with old PowerPC Mac plugins: they all need to be updated, and this transition is not done yet for all popular plugins. It's only a matter of a few weeks/months, though !
To sum it up : Pro Tools LE works on the new Macs, Logic works on the new Macs, as well as Reason and Garageband.
The only thing that won't work for now is some external plugins that you might want to use (but frankly, there's plenty to do with Logic's built-in plugins in the mean time...)

I use the Imac Intel G5 for producing music.. you have to keep in mind that it only works with new, or updated software, I use logic Pro 7, but with the new version 7.2...
