Here’s a radio interview with Sebastian Ingrosso at NRJ – a radio channel in Sweden. The guy interviewing him is Anton D’Niice. Here he tells us about his life, the upcoming documentary about the Swedish House Mafia, their new track Miami 2 Ibiza, how they work in the studio and about a new track that they recently started working on. S: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
A: What’s up?
S: It’s so damn good, how are you?
A: It’s good! It is not so easy to get ahold of you or cause you to stay in Sweden!
S: No, I’m not here so often during the summer. It’s a lot of tours and traveling around!
A: How many SMS you get in a day?
S: I don’t know, maybe 100..
A: Hah, how many do you answer to?
S: 3
A: Hahaha! Hey, what actually happened? Swedish House Mafia, you made a track called Leave The World Behind, which we played a lot here at the NRJ and was damn good! And then you suddenly exploded! Suddenly, you were the largest group, what happened?
S: We have toured a lot and worked a lot in the studio, and all three have made much individual stuff and then we got to us that we should make a Swedish House Mafia-singles only us three, since Laidback Luke was on Leave The World Behind, so Axel flew over to L.A, I was in L.A, Steve lives in L.A so we booked studio for a week, then it just went off from there!
A: I remember when I last interviewed you, you told me that Axel thought One sounded like Lambada?
S: Haha, yes it is included in the documentary that we have filmed. But yes, he thought it sounded a bit like Lambada was with tongue in cheek, but it worked out great!
A: You live not exactly an ordinary Smith’s life, one can say!
S: Nah, not really!
A: So what is an unusual day out for you?
S: An unusual day, ehm..
A: You may sleep eight hours?
S: Yes, sleep eight hours, coffee in town and stuffs like that!
A: Haha, when you sit down in the studio, you, Axwell and Steve Angello, how do you create a song?
S: It is often the case that everyone takes up their laptops and start throwing ideas at each other! Someone may have a small loop, someone might have an acappella, someone might have an idea of some concepts. But often we tend to discuss before we sit in the studio which direction we should take it. Should we take it more about it to the rave direction or should we make it a bit more melodic.
A: Is the type you are damn good at one thing, Axwell is really good at one thing and Steve is really good at one thing?
S: Yes, bit it is. Axel is great at SCAR and lots of other things! Everyone has their little gold things, but I believe that together we become really good! All are equally talented in their own way.
A: Do you ever argue?
S: Absolutely, but not in the studio! There is no time to.
A: You take it on the street?
S: Nah, there are discussions. It happens everywhere.
A: Ah, you have a documentary coming out now in October?
S: Exactly, we have filmed in over two years.
A: For two years?!
S: Yes, 253 gigs have been filmed and documented. Several hundreds of hours of film.
A: Who had to edit it?
S: It’s the genius Kristian Larsson, who makes all our stuff, he made the One video, he has cut Lady Gaga – Telephone, he is a really great guy and he and his boys sat down and searched and searched and searched through the tapes, it has taken a six months.
A: Well, okay. Have they been editing this for half a year?
S: Yes, to find the thread, it’s alot of gigs, much confetti and film aswell. Now when I saw the final cut, it was really fun!

A: Anton D’Niice in the studio, with me, I have a guy from the Swedish House Mafia, the DJ collective, but also producer collective, this summer must have been the best summer of your life?
S: Absolutely!
A: You killed at Pacha in Ibiza!
S: Yes, it just keeps getting sicker, and sicker, our closure party is September 27th, and it is already sold out!
A: Already?!
S: Already! You can not get a single ticket haha!
A: Haha, in this documentary. Is there anything we will be totally shocked about?
S: I think people will be really shocked, Jonas Akerlund saw it the other day and he said it was the biggest jerks he had seen!
A: Haha, best description you can get!
S: Yeah, he loved it and we almost got a job for him. We can discuss it later in greater detail.
A: Absolutely! The new track Miami 2 Ibiza, as the documentary will be called what I understand?
S: Yes, it will! /Until One. I still think we are arguing a bit with Virgin and EMI, of what the name should be. I think people will laugh a lot! There are aspects of us that no one has seen before.
A: Can you tell us about any of the aspects?
S: Yes, but there is everything from me going around a bit bitter and sour that I didn’t get my driver in time. But it’s pretty funny! It is not just ”Yes, we are here and now it’s party”.
A: Preparations?
S: Yes, just prepare and how we do our edits when working in the studio. It’s damn impressive when you see how we are doing One, everything from me making the bassline until finish! It’s damn cool actually!

A: Hey, what question are you most tired of hearing?
S: People always ask ”How do you see yourself?”. I think we are like a quadruple hamburger, it just keeps getting fatter! It’s not like ”Now we are Swedish House Mafia, and now it sounds like this”, but I think we are pretty solid when we play and it’s a pretty massive show, so the music must surely be massive and anthemic, it must be awesome! It’s our purpose, the new song will be even harder.
A: Have you already have plans for a new song?
S: Yes, absolutely! We have already begun!
A: Okay, do you dare tell me anything about it at all?
S: It will ”rocky”!
A: There will be rock?!
S: Yes, it will not rock rock rock, but it is rock and rave!
A: When you’re not making music or hanging with your girlfriend, what do you do?
S: Nothing! I don’t have time to do something other than that!
A: Don’t you just stay at home and mix a little bit and find it a bit chill?
S: Well, of course! I usually try to hang out as much as possible with friends and family. Otherwise I’m working on the laptop, there is constant e-mails, radio interviews, newspaper stuff, but I’ve never had this much fun in my entire life! I have worked for ten years to get to this point and I’m enjoying every second of it!
A: When was your last holiday?
S: I had in fact a real vacation last winter, two days!
A: Two days?!
S: 2-3 days, I was on the Dirty South’s wedding in Australia and so I went on his honeymoon on Hayman Island!
A: HAHA, you went on his honeymoon?
S: Yes, he invited me and Axel and Axel’s family.
A: His wife must’ve been pleased, I understand..
S: I will never forget it, we agreed to not use phones and computers. There was no internet in the rooms, only in the lobby. I sneaked up 8:30 in the morning to get to the lobby and check my e-mail, then all sat there with their laptops, haha!
A: Haha, there were no survivors?
S: No, noone managed more than 20 hours before all were there!
A: Haha, do you hang out a lot in your private lif with Axel and Steve?
S: Absolutely, absolutely!
A: Do you just grab a beer and watch movies?
S: Absolutely, they’re like my brothers!
A: Really?
S: Yes, we spend as much time as possible together. We’re talking to each other 2-3 times a day and I love them to death and we will be friends for life!

S: No comment!
A: No comment? Guess you do not have any comments on that One video, the guy who steals the synthesizer that plays One has a F*** Me I’m Famous tattoo?
S: Not anymore I think. We had to remove that!
A: Haha, okay. It was so from the beginning anyway!
S: No, but it was actually like this that it sounded very similar and we joked back just a little bit.
A: There are no hard feelings now anyway?
S: No, I don’t think so.
A: We’ll see, he might come with a baguette and smack your head with it!
S: Yes, he’s welcome!
